The gorgeous creation by architect Antoni Gaudí, Park Güell dazzled me with its colorful mosaics, picturesque plazas, and stunning panoramic views over Barcelona. This urban park lets you experience Gaudí’s artistic genius blended seamlessly with nature. I loved exploring the vibrant mosaic lizard fountain, wandering the forested trails, and taking in the sweeping city vistas from the grand stairway plaza surrounded by snack stalls. Sitting on one of the charming mosaic benches provided the perfect people watching spot too! Park Güell is like a vibrant fairytale city come to life – it truly deserves its reputation as one of Barcelona’s top 10 sites.
2) Montjuïc Castle: The Forgotten Gem
I wasn’t expecting the trip up to Montjuïc Castle to be a highlight of my Barcelona adventure, but I absolutely loved exploring this 17th century fortress perched on a hill overlooking the sea. Taking the cable car up while watching the views of the city unfold was already incredible. Then wandering the castle grounds, appreciating the detailed stonework and lush gardens, felt like stepping back in time. I was fascinated learning about its turbulent past through the excellent exhibitions. The awesome Magic Fountain light show happens nearby, so try to schedule your visit to catch it after sunset!
